President-elect Donald Trump Returns to the White House with Massive Victory Rally in Washington
President-elect Donald Trump made a grand return to the political stage with a signature “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” in Washington on Sunday, gathering over 20,000 enthusiastic supporters in the nation’s capital ahead of Inauguration Day.
The rally, held at Capital One Arena, echoed the successful Madison Square Garden rally in New York City last October, which served as his closing remarks to American voters a week before the November election.
Trump addressed the boisterous crowd, declaring, “We won, we won!”
A Symphony of Festivities to Mark Trump’s Second Inauguration
The Sunday rally was part of a series of events planned to celebrate Trump’s second inauguration, including fireworks at his Virginia golf club on Saturday night and exclusive receptions and dinners.
More importantly, the rally highlighted the significance of large arena rallies in all three of Trump’s presidential bids, galvanizing his supporters and carrying that campaign spirit into his second term.
The rally featured performances by celebrities who played a role in Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, including the disco band Village People, whose hit “Y.M.C.A.” has become a beloved anthem at Trump rallies, and country singer-songwriter Lee Greenwood, whose “God Bless the U.S.A.” has served as Trump’s rally walkout song.
Longtime Trump supporter and rock musician Kid Rock, country musician Billy Ray Cyrus, and Liberty University’s Praise Choir also took the stage.
Trump’s Call to Stage and Monday’s Overflow Event
At one point during the rally, Trump called billionaire Elon Musk to the stage.
On Monday, Trump and his supporters were expected to gather once again at Capital One Arena, which was designated as an overflow venue due to frigid weather forcing the inauguration festivities to a smaller space inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.
Trump announced on his social media platform that there would be a “live viewing” of his inauguration at the arena on Monday and promised to join the crowd after being sworn in.
“Everyone will be safe, everyone will be happy, and we will, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote.
Following the swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda and the parade’s relocation to Capital One Arena, three inauguration balls – the Commander in Chief Ball, the Liberty Inaugural Ball, and the Starlight Ball – will conclude the inaugural festivities, all attended by President Trump.
